Albro, Howard F. Jr. Howard F. Albro Jr., 81, of Heritage Park Health Care Center, formerly of 23 W. 12th St., died at 4:35 A.M. Wednesday (Feb. 2, 2000) in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born Dec. 28, 1918 in Jamestown, a son of Howard F. and Delia Rowe Albro Sr. Before retirement he was employed at Chase Interiors for 30 years, and was a carpenter by trade. Surviving are three sons: Danny Albro, with whom he made his home, Jim Albro of Pensacola, Fla.,(Middleburg) and Stanley Albro of Tallahassee, Fl. (Tampa); five daughters: Diane, Dorrine, and Marsha (Marcia) Albro, all of Florida, and Patricia Bump and Ruthie Albro, both of Ithaca, (NY); many grandchildren and several Great-grandchildren; and four brothers: Robert, Donald and Harold Albro, all of Jamestown, and Norman Waterman of Newark, N.Y. He was preceded death by his father, who died Aug. 29, 1974, his mother, who died Oct. 22, 1970; a brother, Oscar Albro, and four sisters: Jean Anderson, Betty Steppe, Helen Sharp and Lena Albro. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev Gerald A. Haglund, chaplain of Heritage Park Health Care Center, will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Elsie M. Albro Burns January 2, 2011, Elsie M. Albro Burns, 77, formerly of Jamestown and Falconer, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 1, 2011) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation She was born May 19, 1933, in Jamestown, the daughter of Walter and Edith Seagren Albro. A 1951 graduate of Jamestown High School, she also attended classes at Jamestown Community College. She was a member of the Kiantone Congregational Church and was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi. Mrs. Burns had been employed as a speech pathology aide, in the dental office of Dr. Anthony Dispenza, D.D.S., and as a U.S. Census worker. She had also been employed at the Pennysaver, Quality Markets and with Wilcare as a home health care aide. She enjoyed knitting and crochet, crafts, cooking and baking, writing poetry, reading, painting, teaching Sunday school and talking on the telephone. Mrs. Burns is survived by a son, Scott D. (Michelle) Burns of Jamestown; a daughter, Aimee L. (Danny) Town of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and by two grandchildren: Dylan James Town of Ft. Lauderdale and Heather A. Burns of Jamestown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon H. Burns, whom she married Oct. 21, 1954, and who died Dec. 6, 2003; and by a brother, Ray Albro. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, in the Kiantone Congregational Church. The Rev. Mel McGinnis will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Busti Cemetery. Albro, Harold Harold R. Albro, 78, of 660 Fairmount Ave WE, died Friday (June 27, 2008) in his home. A lifelong area resident, he was born December 22, 1929 in Gerry, NY, the son of Howard F. and Delia Rowe Albro Sr. Harold attended Jamestown Schools, and was a United States Air Force veteran, serving as a Medical Technician during the time of the Korean War. For nearly 50 years, he was employed at Hopes Windows. Following his retirement from Hopes, he worked as a Security Guard at Bush Industries. For 40 years, Harold and his wife enjoyed attending Flea Markets. Surviving are his children, Sandy and Bill Lindberg, Wendy and Charles Coleson, of Jamestown; Cynthia and Frank Marcello of Palm Harbor, FL; Kathy and Bruce McAllister of Westfield; Linda and Christopher DeJoseph of Celoron; seven grandchildren, Michael and Richard Simon; Brian and David Close; Charles Jr, Thomas and Todd Coleson; 13 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Albro and Norman Waterman. Albro, 78, of 31 Hall Ave., died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. A lifelong area resident, she was born Jan. 7, 1930 in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Wallace Knowlton. In earlier years, she had been employed by the former Woolworth's store in Jamestown and retired from the former Marine Midland Bank in Falconer. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Joyce especially loved her cats ''SH'' and Toby. Surviving is her husband, Robert N. Albro, whom she married Aug. 8, 1959; two sons: Norman F. (Christine) Lewis of Frewsburg and Robert D. Lewis of Jamestown; five grandchildren: Jason (Sue) Lanphere of Ben Wheeler, Texas, Stacey (Jamie Eaton) Lewis of Falconer, Cassandra (Scott) Rogers of Westfield, James (Brandi) Lanphere of Brocton and Tammie (Chad) Eddy of Jamestown; and 10 great-grandchildren: Aaron, Kiersten, Joyslyn, Destinee, Camden, Natalie, C.J., Jackson, Olyvia and Samara. May 9, 1917 Jefferson County Journal Walter Albro, a veteran and pensioner of the Civil War, died Thursday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Montague, aged 77 years and five months. He had been in poor health for some time but was about town Monday. He survived his wife by only three weeks. He leaves three daughters, Mrs. Samuel Williams and Mrs. Charles Lomis of Rosco, N. Y., and Mrs. Robert A. Montague of this place: also four grandchildren, Doris and Fay Loomis, and Harold and Raymond Montague; one brother, Willard, of this place; three sisters, Mrs. R. D. Ellis and Mrs. Richard Wilson of this place and Mrs. Lafayette Tyler of Boonville. The funeral was held at the home of his daughter Saturday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Cate. She was past noble grand and member for 35 years of the Stockton Star Rebekah Lodge 395, a member of the Past Matron's Club of Mount Morris and the Starlight Rebekah Lodge 180 of Mount Morris and was active in civil defense and was honored in 1958 for active service. She was credited as establishing the Chautauqua County Practical Nurses Association. Surviving are a daughter, Donna Kusneske of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a grandson, Kris T. Ronald James Waterman Ronald James Waterman born December 21, 1942 went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 13, 2021. He was the first born son of Norman and Della E. Waterman in Rochester, New York. After accepting Jesus as his personal savior on July 26, 1958, he was called by God into pastoral ministry. He pastored for 32 years at churches in Buffalo, New York, Los Angeles, California, Nescopeck, Pennsylvania, and Tupelo, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was having the opportunity to share his faith with someone and seeing that person experience new life in Christ. He married Karen Marie Bartz on September 7, 1963 in Owosso, Michigan. The marriage was blessed with three daughters, Sheryl Denton (James) of Thaxton, Ms., Pam Benns (George) of Buffalo, New York and Rhonda Hill (Eddie) of Newton, Ms. He had 6 grandchildren Stephen Denton, John Luke Denton, Ronald Benns, Amanda Goggins, George Benns lll, and Paul Benns. He had 10 great grandchildren. He has three sisters Beverly (Bill) Wandersee of Florida, Norma Dehaven of North Carolina, Joyce (Bob) Spammer of New York and one brother Norman (Rebecca) Waterman of New York. He was an active member of West Heights Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School, was a deacon and served the church whenever he was asked. A celebration service of life will be held at West Heights Baptist Church at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021. Brother David Hamilton will officiate. A time of musical celebration will be the order of service. His greatest joy in life was the evidence of the power of his changed life in Christ. A Crystal River resident for the past 25 years, she was born in Jamestown. She was employed as a telemarketer with a Tampa firm and earned an award as top salesperson. She collected stuffed animals and loved shopping. Her extended family of staff and residents at Crystal River Health and Rehabilitation Center brought her great happiness during the five years she resided there. She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Aubrey Campbell of Yankeetown, Fla.; her mother, Maybelle Remington of Inglis, Fla.; two sons: Erwin John ''EJ'' Miller of Hamburg and Jaydee ''JD'' Miller of Naples, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Simone Heckerhorn of Ocala, Fla.; two sisters: Sandra Lee Fuller of Ashville and Claire Dorine Albro of Jamestown; and a stepsister, Carol Meacham of Jamestown. Mr. Albro held various jobs through the years, including the elected office of Middletown Town Sergeant, working at the Hereshoff boat yard and the Naval Torpedo Stations, followed by 10 years as a farm manager and 19 years with the former Newport Electric Corporation, retiring in 1975 as an engineer in the power house. In retirement, Mr. Albro worked part-time as a carpenter and traveled extensively with his wife in New England. Mr. Albro was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed competitive shooting, hunting, genealogy, and working with his tools. He was born Nov. 19, 1925 in Jamestown, the son of Harold and Ruby Carlson Burns. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School, and a veteran of World war II, serving in the U. S. Army Corps in the Philippines, Okinawa and China. In early years, he had been employed by Bert Loftgren's Red & White Store. In later years he was employed by Burns Case Goods, and retired from Union National Furniture Co. after 40 years of service as shipping manager. He enjoyed carpentry and loved dogs. He is survived by his wife, the former Elsie Albro; a son, Scott Burns of Jamestown; a daughter, Aimee Town of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a grandson, Dylan James Town of Ft. Lillie "Honey" Essie Krussell of 1500 Click Road, Petoskey, passed away
Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at the University of Michigan Hospital, in
Ann Arbor, from complications after a short battle with cancer. Lillie
had her family by her side. Lillie was met by her one true love Robert
"Bob" Leroy Krussell Sr., her son Jerry Krussell, and her grandson
Michael Slocum. Lillie is survived by her son Robert Krussell Jr of
Texas, and her three daughters Rhea McNaughton, Beverly Evans, and
Kimberly Gray (Bud Jr.), and her beloved pug Bandit, all of Petoskey.
Also surviving are Lillie's 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren,
and many great-great grandchildren.
Lillie was born July 14, 1922, the daughter of William Guy Albro and Winifred May Haskins of New York. Lillie married Bob in 1939 and they spent their lives in the home they built together on Click Road. Lillie was well known around Petoskey having worked for 11 years as a bus driver for the Petoskey Schools and enjoyed transporting various teams to events around the state. Lillie also drove a bus for the Petoskey Friendship Center for 10 years. In her retirement with Bob, Lillie loved to travel the country, enjoying most their visits to the desert southwest and spending time with her dear friend Nellie Nelson in Stephenville, Texas. Lillie enjoyed softball games at Petoskey's waterfront, planting flowers around her home, cooking, and reading every word of the Petoskey News Review daily. Lillie also found a way to contribute to many charities, oftentimes building care packages for the troops overseas. In recent years, Lillie enjoyed most the time with her pug, Bandit. The pride of Lillie's life was her grandchildren. Even in the moments prior to her surgery she stated, "I need this, because I have many grandchildren to live for." She instilled in her grandchildren many things, including her love of travel, inspiring many of them to travel the country, a deep sense of personal strength, to appreciate birds and flowers, and try new recipes both in life and in the kitchen. She then loved hearing those experiences through the stories they shared with her. During her stay at U of M, her constant request was, "I want to go home." Although her condition prevented her from traveling, her family brought Petoskey to her. Lillie's friend, Pastor Daniel Pomerlee of Love Abiding Christian Church, Mountain Home, Idaho, will lead services to celebrate her life at Stone Funeral Home, Petoskey, on Monday February 21st at 2:00 p.m.; the date is Bob and Honey's 72nd wedding anniversary. Visitation will be held at the funeral home also on Monday from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. A reception, hosted in part by the Northern Michigan Cancer Crusaders, will be held immediately thereafter. |
| Albro, Joan M. Joan M. Albro, 61, of 1141 Prendergast Ave., died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday (Jan. 27, 1993) in WCA Hospital. She was the wife of Donald M. Albro, with whom she observed their 37th wedding anniversary April 29, 1992. A native of Jamestown, she was born Oct. 20, 1931, a daughter of Gunnard S. and Mae Gillburg Johnson. Mrs. Albro was a graduate of Jamestown High School class of 1950. For 27 years, she was the switchboard operator at Jamestown General Hospital. She was a member of Epworth Christ United Methodist Church. Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Timothy D. Albro of Dayton, Ohio and Jonathan Albro of Hartford, Conn.; a daughter, Judy L. VanWie of Syracuse: four grandchildren, Nathan and Stefanie VanWie of Syracuse, Madeline and Kristen Albro, both of Dayton; her mother, Mae G. Johnson of Jamestown; a sister, Carol Jordan of Erie, Pa.; and two brothers, Milton G. Johnson and Robert G. Johnson, both of Jamestown. She was preceeded in death by her father, who died Dec. 20, 1991. The Funeral will be at 11 a.m. saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Jay G.
